Lagos Monarch Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison For Faking Kidnap
The dethroned Baale of Shangisha in the Magodo area of Lagos, Mutiu Ogundare, has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment.
Omadaily recalls the former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on July 13, 2017, suspended the Baale over a kidnap incident.
After five years, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, on Tuesday convicted and sentenced the accused on a two-count bordering on breach of peace in the state and fake kidnapping.
Also jailed for the same prison term was his brother, Opeyemi Mohammed.
The court, however, set his wife Abolanle, free, having earlier absolved her of the charges earlier leveled against her.
84-year-old Man Defiles Eight-year-old
The Ogun State Police has arrested 84-year-old, Stephen Jack, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Ijebu Ode area of the state.
Omadaily gathered that the suspect was arrested after the father of the victim reported the incident at the Obalende divisional headquarters.
The victim’s father was said to have questioned her daughter when he found her bleeding from her private part and she admitted to being sexually assaulted by the perpetrator.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement said preliminary investigation revealed that the 84-year-old man is a known pedophile in the area.
The Ogun Police spokesperson added that the victim has also been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The statement reads: “Upon the report, the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy old man was apprehended.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the old man is a known paedophile in the area. The victim has been taken to the General Hospital Ijebu Ode for medical treatment.”
