Festus Keyamo Reacts As Campaign Poster Of Tinubu And Nnamani Of PDP Emerges (Photo)

The spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo on Tuesday, shared an intriguing campaign poster on his social media account.

Omadaily reports the poster features the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu on one side and the Enugu East senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Chimaroke Nnamani on the other side.

The poster has a caption, “Ebeano 4 Tinubu 2023.”

Reacting, Keyamo described the development as a confirmation of friendship across divides.

He wrote on his Twitter account as caption for the image; “Talk of friendship across tribal divides!!”

Genesis Of The Saga

It will be recalled that eyebrows were raised when it was discovered that a chieftain of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Enugu State, Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani has been appointed into the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

Omadaily reports that the serving lawmaker’s name appeared in a list released on Friday, where he was listed as one of the members of the Local Government Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

First Denial

However, the All Progressives Congress, Presidential Campaign Council, (APCPCC), moved quickly to clarify that the name of the former Governor of Enugu State, Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani which appeared on the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council was an error.

Speaking on the development, the spokesman of the APC presidential campaign council, Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, said that the person intended to be added and represented by Chimaroke Nnamani, was the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani.

Ken Nnamani, Omadaily understands is a strong member of the APC, who served as the party’s caretaker committee leader before its dissolution in early 2022.

Onanuga further said the mistake was due to the similarity in the names otherwise Chimaroke would not have been added to the 422-member campaign council list.

APC Backtracks

Nigerians were however in for more drama on the saga as the APC presidential council director of media, Bayo Onanuga on Monday confirmed that the inclusion of Nnamani in its list is not a mistake.

The APC council on Monday stressed that the Enugu lawmaker is working for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu while he remains a member and senatorial candidate of the PDP.

The statement released to that effect by Onanuga reads; “The PCC will also want to clarify that the appearance of the name of HE Chimaroke Nnamani, a distinguished senator from Enugu State, was not a mistake.

“He is on the list in his own right as a supporter of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

PDP Yet To React

As at the time of filing this report, the PDP was yet to make any official statement on the development but Nigerians are already pondering the implications of such a scenario and await the final outcome.

An attempt by our correspondent to get a reaction from the PDP spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba was not successful.
